$20 DIY Internal Storage Bags for Packrafting (UL)
“Twinkies”, or internal drybags are invaluable when packrafting. Most importantly, they hold your gear together in your boat so it doesn’t shift around when you are making moves in the river. They protect the inside of your boat. They also provide an additional waterproof layer inside your boat if it were to get a leak, and keep your gear together should you have catastrophic gear failure.
These bags DO NOT count as “secondary chambers” required on certain permits, but they do work for a lot of light Class III and below packrafting and they only cost about $20. If you would like to sew your own twinkies with UL backpacking materials, Landon Sawaya has a DIY here.
