Sierra High Route: Nutrition Strategy
For my Sierra High Route attempt, I’ve switched up my nutritional strategy and I am focusing on carbs-per-hour rather than calories-per-day. I’m aiming for 35g of carbs per hour, for 12 hours. Which breaks down to about:
420g Carbs / 100g Protein / 90g Fat a day
In the past, I have focused on calories an hour/day, with an emphasis on proteins and fats. That worked for me. However, sometime in the last year my body has been craving more accessible carbs. I started experimenting with carbs/hour and came up with a comfortable 35g carbs/hour for my caloric needs. I can always pick up more food in town or in hiker boxes if I need to!
